Touch Screens: We have already saw Touch Screen version of OS ie Windows 7, so it is sure that there must be a lot of improvements in it, may be like multi-touch capability and lot more. 2. Biometrics Support: New Windows 8 would have inbuilt Biometric password login support, now who need to type a password when you have your face or eye or finger print to do your work. Having said that it automatically enhances the security feature manifolds. 3. Faster Boot up: Ever since I started using computer the only thing that I hated is the Boot Screen and I hate waiting to let it get load, on average Vista 40 secs, Windo

Data Recovery Software: Your Options for Successfully Recovering Disks, Files and Data

Today's computers are much more reliable in general than the older generations. Modern hard drives fail less frequently, and they warn you well in advance about upcoming failures with the recently adopted SMART monitoring.                               Modern hard disks have greater storage capacities than their predecessors. Retaining the same physical size, they feature a much higher storage density, allowing storing more files on the same space of their surface. And hence the big problem: if your hard drive fails, you have a lot to lose. Much more than you would just a few years ago, with much less chances to get your data back without precision tools and clean labs.                              While there's little you can do about a physically damaged hard drive except send it to a dedicated data recovery service, there's still hope if hard drive failure didn't cause it to stop spinning. Even if

5 Steps to Securing Your Windows XP Home Computer

Most people are aware that there are continuous security issues with Microsoft's Windows operating system and other programs. However, what most people do not realize is how easy it is to significantly improve your computer's security and reduce the likelihood of becoming a victim to ever increasingly sophisticated threats that lurk on the internet. These steps should take less than a couple of hours to complete and should not clean out your wall 1) Windows Update – the first crucial step you need to take to make sure that all your Microsoft applications have all the latest product updates installed. These updates or "patches" address security vulnerabilities and other issues. Microsoft usually issues these updates on a monthly cycle. Visit the Microsoft website or switch on automatic updates from the Windows Control panel. Even if your "new" computer is second hand this is still a critical first step. If you buy

Turn your Body into a Touchscreen Interface

“Finding the keypad on your cellphone or music player a bit cramped? Maybe your forearm could be more accommodating. It could become part of a skin-based interface that effectively turns your body into a touchscreen ,” notes from NewScientist . What is being addressed is “Skinput,” a technological project developed by Chris Harrison from Carnegie Mellon University, and Desney Tan and Dan Morris of Microsoft Research. Read more about it here. Notes about Skinput (retrieved from official research document):                            We present Skinput, a technology that appropriates the human body for acoustic transmission, allowing the skin to be used as an input surface. In particular, we resolve the location of finger taps on the arm and hand by analyzing mechanical vibrations that propagate through the body. We collect these signals using a novel array of sensors worn as an armband. This approach provides an always available, naturally portable, an

What is CPU speed?

The CPU of a computer is the part of it which performs all of its logical and arithmetic calculations. All calculations are done by first converting the user's input into binary, and then the calculations are performed on the binary. The binary system consists of only two different digits – 0 and 1. They are referred to as the logical zero and logical one. For every calculation the computer alternates between these two numbers. A single change from 0 to 1 or vice-versa is known as a clock cycle. The speed of a CPU is measured in clock rate. In short, the clock rate is the frequency of the clock in a circuit. It is measured in Hz, MHz (Million cycles per second) and GHz. The clock rate can also be defined as the speed at which the microprocessor executes instructions. This rate is used to compare the speeds of different computers.                                         The clock rate of a CPU depends on various factor

Microsoft to bring Windows 8, will enterprises accept it?

After the flop show of Windows Vista, Windows 7 has turned out to be the 'knight in shining armor' and made a significant dent in the Windows user base. Although it has been a year only since Microsoft unearthed Windows 7, the latest operating system has found much traction among the users and has become the fastest selling operating system (OS) in Window's history with over 240 million sold licenses globally. Enterprises are also adopting Windows 7. According to a study, while 80 percent of the respondents are planning to deploy Windows 7 in less than 12 months time, over 7000 businesses in India have already opted for Windows 7. Seeing this successful run of Windows 7, Microsoft's recent announcement of the upcoming version of Windows seems to be a little early. The Dutch arm of Microsoft announced recently in a blog that the successor to Windows 7, dubbed 'Windows 8' by most; will be shipped in two years. W
